SHERIDAN, WYOMING – April 12, 2025 - A Mediterranean Gem Welcoming the World
Mallorca, the shimmering jewel of the Balearic Islands, has once again captured the spotlight as Europe’s top travel destination for 2024, according to Condé Nast Traveller. This enchanting island delivers a rich mosaic of rugged mountains, peaceful coves, bustling markets, and charming coastal towns—all within a two-hour flight from the UK.
Princess Motor Yacht Sales, a trusted name in luxury yachting, has been rooted in Mallorca for over two decades, offering bespoke services to yacht owners and charterers alike. With its vibrant culture, upmarket amenities, and an ever-growing focus on sustainability, Mallorca has become a dream destination for seasoned travelers and boating enthusiasts from around the globe.
Exploring Mallorca by Sea and Land
Based in the prestigious Puerto Portals Marina and the cozy resort town of Cala D’Or, Princess Motor Yacht Sales provides everything from new and used yacht sales to aftercare, service, upgrades, finance, insurance, and charter options. The company’s footprint in Mallorca is vast, with its Argo Nautica group and sister company Argo Yachting supporting clients through a modern aftercare facility in Son Bugadelles.
“Or, if you fancy a bit of island-hopping, you could reach Ibiza in about four hours on a Princess F50,” says Tracy Neale, who heads the Cala D’Or office. From the secluded Blue Flag beaches of Cala Mondragó and S’Amarador to the majestic sunsets at Port Andraxt, the island’s coast is tailor-made for unforgettable boating experiences.
Island Adventures and Hidden Gems
For those drawn to the natural wonders of Mallorca, the Serra de Tramuntana mountain range offers nearly 90 kilometers of hiking trails and panoramic views. “I love Valldemossa, a quaint stone village, and the mountains are great for a scenic walk, with the promise of a pit-stop at a restaurant for lunch!” adds Tracy.
Nigel James, who set up the Princess operations in Mallorca over 22 years ago, recommends cruising to Puerto de Campos and Platja es Trenc. “It’s completely unspoilt, with nothing but incredible crystal-clear water lapping onto a long stretch of golden sand backed by sand dunes,” he shares.
Another must-see is the historic train ride from Palma to Soller, followed by a ride on the 1913 tram to Port de Soller. Nigel enthuses, “Soller is both a real town and a holiday destination... it has something very special.”
Year-Round Charm and Cultural Highlights
Mallorca’s appeal doesn’t end when summer does. December brings festive Christmas markets, especially in Puerto Portals, and the lively celebration of the Three Kings on January 6th. Tracy recommends the Pollença Wine Fair each May: “You buy a branded festival glass for around €15 and then you can sample everything... there’s also music, paella and a great party atmosphere.”
David Walder, General Manager for the Balearics, loves Illetas for paddle boarding and relaxing beach vibes. “There’s a lovely beach club with a cool laid-back vibe called Balneario Illetas... perfect for a relaxing weekend.”
For more active explorers, he recommends a hike from Orient to a hidden waterfall or up to the fortress of Alaró. “If you want something more strenuous, there is the long hike up to the fortress of Alaró which takes about four hours there and back.”
A Hub for Luxury Living and Boating Excellence
Boating trends on the island are evolving, with more second-home owners embracing day-boating. “The V55 is a big hit here... a fab platform for fun in the sun,” says David, praising the model’s versatile and spacious design, ideal for exploring hidden coves and hosting friends.
Puerto Portals and Club de Mar are both undergoing significant transformations. “Here in Portals, the redevelopment includes more offices... a new underground car park, pedestrianising the front, adding a new swimming pool, restaurants and upgrading the beach,” explains Nigel.
Club de Mar, meanwhile, is setting a new standard with its forward-thinking marina infrastructure. “It’s four years into a five-year build with the first phase due to open in summer 2025,” adds Nigel.
The Celebrity Seal of Approval
It’s no surprise that Mallorca draws global icons—tennis champion Rafael Nadal has a home here, Jason Mamoa chartered a Princess S72, and Richard Branson has launched the luxurious Son Bunyola retreat on the island.
