P&G Champions Employee-Led Sustainability with a Personal Touch

SHERIDAN, WYOMING – May 3, 2025 – As Earth Month wraps up, Procter & Gamble (P&G) is highlighting the powerful role its employees play in driving sustainable progress—proving that environmental responsibility isn’t just a corporate goal, but a personal mission embraced throughout the company.

From open conversations across continents to child-led video campaigns and on-site plant visits, P&G’s sustainability strategy is all about keeping it real, relatable, and results-driven. According to Virginie Helias, Chief Sustainability Officer at P&G, “Sustainability is most powerful when it’s deeply embedded into the way we work, think and lead.” That commitment shows through in every corner of the organization.

Conversations That Matter — From Lunchrooms to Global Forums

One of the most inspiring ways P&G encourages sustainable thinking is through SustainTable Talks, informal lunch gatherings held in company offices around the world. These events bring together employees from different departments and regions, giving them space to share their views, hopes, and challenges.

“These in-person discussions are opportunities to foster open dialogue,” Helias shared. “They offer employees a broader perspective they may not typically have.”

In addition to in-person meetups, P&G hosts All In On Sustainability, a monthly virtual Q&A where employees can ask any question related to sustainability and receive transparent, unscripted responses. With hundreds tuning in, these calls provide a pulse-check on the company’s progress and offer employees a chance to influence the direction of its sustainability efforts.

Helias also visits manufacturing plants regularly, emphasizing the value of connecting with the people on the ground. “These visits are more than check-ins. They’re ways to listen, learn and uncover powerful insights that fuel our journey,” she said.

Making It Personal — The Next Generation Speaks Up

To make sustainability resonate on a personal level, P&G launched a heartwarming video series featuring the children of its employees. These young voices talk candidly about environmental action and how their parents' work at P&G helps reduce ecological impact.

“Who better to convey the importance of environmental action than the next generation of leaders?” said Helias.

The series highlights three core pillars of P&G’s approach:

  • Minimizing the company’s environmental footprint.
  • Empowering consumers to make sustainable choices.
  • Scaling eco-friendly solutions across industries.

By making sustainability a family affair, P&G fosters emotional connection and long-term commitment.

Recognizing the Changemakers Behind the Scenes

Now in its sixth year, the It’s Our Home Sustainability Awards recognize individuals and teams going above and beyond to embed sustainability into everyday business. This year’s ceremony honored 12 winners from more than 300 inspiring nominations.

The awards celebrate:

  • Efforts to reduce environmental impact within P&G’s operations and supply chain.
  • Innovations that help consumers lessen their footprint.
  • Contributions to industry-wide sustainable practices.

Many P&G sites even host expo-style events around the awards, where teams showcase their initiatives to inspire peers and amplify success.

Where Innovation Meets Purpose

For P&G, sustainability isn’t a buzzword—it’s a catalyst for meaningful change and market growth. “We believe the path forward is innovation that solves everyday problems through irresistible superiority that drives market growth and is more environmentally sustainable,” Helias said.

Consumers benefit from knowing the brands they trust are led by people who care—people who listen, take action, and are recognized for their efforts.
