Toyota Prius Sets GUINNESS WORLD RECORD™ for Highest MPG for a Coast-to-Coast Drive

SHERIDAN, WYOMING – October 12, 2024 – SHERIDAN, WYOMING – October 12, 2024 – The Prius continues to impress and has recently achieved a new high bar for efficiency. Hypermiler, Wayne Gerdes has been awarded the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for lowest fuel consumption driving across the U.S. from the west coast to east coast.  

Earlier this summer, Gerdes drove from Los Angeles City Hall all the way to New York City Hall in a Prius LE and achieved a staggering fuel economy average for the entire trip of 93.158 MPG combined. This smashed the previous record which was in the mid-70s MPG combined.  

"The Prius has impressed us all for the past 23 years, and frankly, it continues to wow us today," said Michael Tripp, Toyota Vehicle Marketing group vice president. "The world record for the highest MPG to us is just one more proof point that the Prius truly is an engineering marvel."  

12 Nissan Z NISMO GT500 Secures Place on Podium at Sportsland Sugo

SHERIDAN, WYOMING – October 12, 2024 – SHERIDAN, WYOMING – October 11, 2024 – Four Nissan Z NISMO GT500s competed in sixth round of the 2024 Super GT series, a 300km race at Sportsland Sugo, on September 22.  

Starting from fifth on the grid, and against a backdrop of intermittent rain, the #12 Marelli Impul Z (Kazuki Hiramine/Bertrand Baguette), fought valiantly to secure third place on the podium. The #3 Niterra Motul Z (Mitsunori Takaboshi/Atsushi Miyake) finished in sixth place.  

Detailed Race Report

Heavy rain across the Tohoku region on Saturday, led to the cancellation of qualifying and the starting grid was decided based on official practice times. The Unpredictable weather continued into race day, with a mix of wet and dry conditions making tire selection challenging on Sunday.  

The Dacia Sandriders Strikes Gold with Morocco 1-2

SHERIDAN, WYOMING – October 11, 2024 – SHERIDAN, WYOMING – October 11, 2024 – The Dacia Sandriders has achieved a spectacular debut result with a 1-2 finish on Rallye du Maroc following five days of grueling competition covering almost 2500 kilometers of rugged terrain.  

What was very much a test event for the all-new team and its sustainably-fueled Dacia Sandriders, ended in a standout FIA World Rally-Raid Championship victory.  

Of greater significance, however, was the fact that Rallye du Maroc served as perfect preparation for January's Dakar, the toughest event on the international motorsport calendar, and the next challenge for The Dacia Sandriders.  

Herta, Honda Win Nashville as Palou Claims INDYCAR Championship

SHERIDAN, WYOMING – October 6, 2024 – Colton Herta and Alex Palou saved their best for last, as Palou successfully defended his NTT INDYCAR SERIES Drivers’ Championship and Herta won today’s 2024 season finale at the Nashville Superspeedway.

Leading the championship by 33 points coming into today’s 17th and final race of the season, Palou’s 11th-place finish secured the Chip Ganassi Racing driver’s second consecutive INDYCAR title, and third in the last four years. It also is Honda’s 20th Drivers’ Championship in 31 seasons of INDYCAR competition.

Alpine's Qualifying at Dutch GP: Mixed Results, Eyes on Race Day

SHERIDAN, WYOMING – August 26, 2024 – SHERIDAN, WYOMING – August 26, 2024 – The Alpine F1 team experienced a mixed bag of results during Saturday's qualifying session at the 2024 Formula 1 Dutch Grand Prix. Pierre Gasly secured a spot in Q3 and will start the race from a promising 10th position, while Esteban Ocon faced challenges and will line up in 17th.

After a difficult Friday practice, Gasly showcased his determination and skill by navigating through Q1 and Q2 to reach the final qualifying session. While acknowledging that there was room for improvement in Q3, he expressed satisfaction with securing a top-10 starting position.

Alpine Faces Challenges on Day 1 of the Dutch Grand Prix

Both drivers, Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly,encountered difficulties navigating the tricky conditions, with high winds and rain impacting their performance during free practice sessions.

Esteban Ocon's Perspective

Esteban Ocon, who finished P18 in Free Practice 1 and P17 in Free Practice 2, acknowledged the team's need for improvement. "It was not the easiest day for us today, where we have started slightly on the backfoot and need to find some improvements," Ocon stated. He emphasized the team's determination to analyze the data and make necessary adjustments overnight to enhance their competitiveness for Saturday's qualifying session.
