SHERIDAN, WYOMING – April 8, 2025 - Stellantis and Valeo Launch Groundbreaking Remanufactured LED Headlamp and Infotainment Display in Europe
Automotive innovation meets sustainability in a first-of-its-kind circular economy breakthrough
Driving innovation and sustainability hand-in-hand
Stellantis and Valeo are setting new standards for the automotive industry in Europe with the launch of two pioneering remanufactured products: the first remanufactured LED headlamp in Europe and a remanufactured infotainment display screen. This milestone, announced at the Rematec trade fair in Amsterdam, highlights a strengthened partnership focused on driving forward a circular economy strategy through cutting-edge remanufacturing.
“This shows our commitment to innovate in automotive remanufacturing and meet the strong demand for headlamps and display spare parts in an affordable and sustainable way,” said Laurence Hansen, SVP Global Circular Economy at Stellantis.
The initiative builds on the success of a previous collaboration between the two companies that led to the launch of the first remanufactured front camera for advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) in late 2023.
What is remanufacturing—and why it matters
Remanufacturing is a standardized industrial process that restores used automotive parts to original equipment manufacturer (OEM) specifications, offering the same performance and warranty as new parts. For consumers, this means dependable quality with a smaller environmental impact and a more cost-effective solution.
This process lies at the heart of Stellantis and Valeo’s circular economy strategies, supporting Stellantis’ Carbon Net Zero target by 2038 and Valeo’s commitment to carbon neutrality by 2050, under its CAP 50 decarbonization program.
Europe’s first remanufactured LED headlamp: a breakthrough in automotive lighting
In a bold move towards sustainable automotive innovation, Stellantis and Valeo are introducing Europe’s first remanufactured LED headlamp. This product reuses up to 50% of raw materials recovered from end-of-life headlamps, significantly reducing the need for new resources and lowering CO₂ emissions by up to 70% compared to manufacturing a new unit.*
“We are proud to extend our remanufactured portfolio thanks to our cooperation with Stellantis,” said Christophe Le Ligné, Valeo Group R&D VP and Light CTO. “We are bringing an ‘as good as new’ offer at a lower cost to the end user.”
Valeo’s remanufacturing operations for the headlamp are being carried out at its Chrzanow (Poland) and Angers (France) facilities, reinforcing its European industrial base and creating new economic opportunities.
The remanufactured LED headlamp will be included in the Stellantis SUSTAINera REMAN range, with availability beginning in the second half of 2025. The first vehicles to feature the headlamp will be the Peugeot 3008 and 5008 models, followed by the Peugeot 508.
Infotainment display screen joins the remanufactured product family
Also unveiled is the remanufactured infotainment display screen—another high-value component often discarded prematurely. This new offering is being produced at Valeo’s Circular Electronics Lab in Nevers, France, the same site responsible for remanufacturing the front ADAS camera.
The remanufactured screen will be available in June through Stellantis’ SUSTAINera range and applicable on a wide selection of popular models: Peugeot 308; Citroën C3 and C3 Aircross; DS DS3 Crossback; and Opel Grandland X, Corsa, and Mokka.
A legacy of expertise meets a future of sustainability
With over 40 years of experience in remanufacturing, Valeo brings a robust portfolio to the partnership, currently producing one million remanufactured products annually. Its offerings span from starters and alternators to compressors and brake calipers, with plans to double capacity by 2030.
Stellantis complements this with its expansive SUSTAINera label, covering more than 12,000 part numbers across 40 product lines, including high-voltage batteries for electric vehicles.
Looking ahead: a greener, smarter road forward
This joint effort between Stellantis and Valeo is more than a product launch—it’s a transformative leap towards a more sustainable and circular automotive industry. By remanufacturing essential components with no compromise on quality, the two companies are enabling consumers to make eco-friendly choices without sacrificing performance or reliability.
