BMW Rolls Out Seven Millionth U.S.-Built Vehicle: A Celebration of Craftsmanship and Innovation

SHERIDAN, WYOMING – May 1, 2025 – BMW Manufacturing has reached an extraordinary milestone with the completion of its seven millionth vehicle assembled in the United States, marking over 30 years of automotive excellence in South Carolina. The celebratory model, a striking BMW ALPINA XB7 in ALPINA Green Metallic, showcases the brand’s passion for performance, luxury, and innovation — and it's staying right at home as part of BMW’s historic collection.

A Milestone Worth Celebrating

As the seven millionth vehicle rolled off the line at BMW’s Spartanburg, SC plant, it wasn’t just another luxury SUV — it was a testament to the company’s legacy and vision for the future.

“This beautiful BMW ALPINA XB7 is a testament to the great products we have, the quality of our supplier network, and the unwavering commitment and dedication of our valued associates,” said Dr. Robert Engelhorn, president and CEO of BMW Manufacturing. “For over 30 years, BMW has proudly invested in South Carolina and its people, creating a remarkable legacy. We are excited about our future as we prepare to assemble fully electric vehicles at this plant."

The ALPINA XB7 is more than a high-performance machine; it’s a symbol of BMW’s craftsmanship and attention to detail. With a 4.4-liter ALPINA Bi-Turbo V8 engine delivering 631 horsepower, this vehicle represents the pinnacle of power and precision.

Luxury Meets Legacy

To make this commemorative vehicle truly special, BMW’s ALPINA team gave it the “white glove” treatment:

  • Custom ALPINA front apron, rear diffuser, and rear spoiler
  • ALPINA-embroidered floormats and a commemorative badge
  • 23-inch ALPINA CLASSIC CS16 wheels
  • Tartufo Full Merino Leather upholstery
  • ALPINA Walnut Nature Black trim and second-row captain’s chairs
  • Panoramic Sky Lounge LED Roof
  • Leather steering wheel with blue and green stitching, and ALPINA badge

This stunning SUV will remain at the Spartanburg plant as part of BMW’s historic collection — a tribute to the millions of vehicles and memories made since 1994.

Built in America, Loved Around the World

BMW’s impact goes far beyond South Carolina. In 2024 alone, the Spartanburg plant assembled nearly 400,000 vehicles, exporting about 225,000 to over 120 countries — making BMW the top U.S. automotive exporter by value for more than a decade.

With over 11,000 employees and the capacity to produce 450,000 vehicles annually, Plant Spartanburg is the largest BMW production facility worldwide and the global hub for BMW Sports Activity Vehicles. It's where some of the most beloved models — including the X3, X4, X5, X6, X7, and XM — come to life.

BMW’s commitment to the U.S. extends even further:

  • Over $14.8 billion invested in South Carolina since 1992
  • A new $1.7 billion investment to support electric vehicle production and battery assembly
  • By 2030, at least six fully electric models will be assembled at Plant Spartanburg

Driving Toward an Electric Future

As BMW looks ahead, the future is electric — and bright. The company is preparing for the next era of mobility by investing in cutting-edge infrastructure and sustainable innovation. With electric vehicles on the horizon and a proud history behind them, BMW’s journey in the U.S. is just getting started.

For car enthusiasts, this milestone offers more than just numbers — it’s a reminder that passion, performance, and precision can come together in unforgettable ways.
