SHERIDAN, WYOMING – April 18, 2025 - A Flame Red Moment in Ram History
The Stellantis Sterling Heights Assembly Plant (SHAP) hit a historic milestone on April 16 with the production of its two millionth Ram 1500. The landmark vehicle — a striking Flame Red 2025 Ram 1500 RHO — underscores the success and evolution of the facility since it began building Ram 1500 trucks in 2018.
A Facility Reinvented for a New Era
From cars to trucks: a transformative journey
Once a car assembly plant, SHAP underwent a major transformation beginning in 2016 to support Ram 1500 truck production. The first model rolled off the line in March 2018, and just seven years later, the plant has reached the two million mark.
Investment in innovation
In 2024, Stellantis invested $235.5 million into SHAP to support the production of next-generation Ram 1500 models, including the Ram 1500 Ramcharger and the battery-electric Ram 1500 REV. These additions reflect the company’s broader strategy to offer multi-energy platforms, giving consumers options across internal combustion, hybrid, and electric powertrains.
A Workforce That Powers the Brand
Strength in numbers, pride in craftsmanship
“The Sterling Heights Assembly Plant is a core facility in our manufacturing footprint, tasked with the difficult responsibility of assembling the Ram 1500, a nameplate with 10 trim levels and thousands of configurations,” said Tim Kuniskis, Ram brand CEO. “Handing keys to nearly 2 million Ram 1500 customers takes a strong team as we start an aggressive product cadence for Ram brand.”
Celebrating resilience and achievement
“Not that long ago, SHAP’s future was in doubt so this is a remarkable accomplishment, and I am so proud of this workforce for their resilience and dedication,” said Chuck Padden, SHAP plant manager. “We have a lot to look forward to as we start building the Ram 1500 with a range of powertrain options, providing freedom of choice for our customers.”
The Truck That Keeps Raising the Bar
Award-winning and consumer-ready
The 2025 Ram 1500, including the celebrated RHO model, continues to impress, earning the prestigious MotorTrend Truck of the Year award — the seventh time the brand has achieved this honor. As the latest addition to the off-road sport truck lineup, the RHO joins the Warlock and Rebel, all proudly assembled at SHAP.
Ram brand continues to dominate
Ram’s 2025 lineup of light-duty and heavy-duty pickups is more competitive than ever. With new sport truck offerings, expanded commercial solutions, and industry-first innovations, Ram delivers vehicles tailored to both consumer and professional needs. From unmatched off-road performance to the most luxurious features in the segment, Ram continues to set benchmarks across the board.
